Wellbeing Walk Leader Training

Is your organisation looking to run wellbeing walks for your staff and clients?

This two-part online course will be delivered by Fitness and Wellness Coach and Trainer Egg Cameron and will provide you with the skills and knowledge to do so.

The sessions will cover:

  • The key Walk Leader roles and responsibilities.
  • Creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for the group.
  • Route planning, pre-walk risk assessments and dynamic risk assessments.
  • Adapting walks to the needs of your group.
  • What to do before, during and after your walk.
  • Monitoring and reporting.
  • Confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Measuring the impact of your projects.

This training is FREE and is being delivered as part of HEY Smile Foundation’s Growing Green and Blue Health project thanks to funding from the Community Fund.

Please note this is a two-part course and you will need to attend both sessions . 

Times:
Tuesday 25 February 3-5pm  (Session 1)
Tuesday 11 March 3-5pm  (Session 2)

What will you learn?

Session 1 will cover: Introductions; Walk Leader roles & responsibilities. Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Considering the needs of participants. Route planning and risk assessment.

Participants will then be tasked with completing the following before Session 2: Plan a route. Create a risk assessment using a template. Walk the route and complete a dynamic risk assessment.

Session 2: Participant task route and risk assessment review. Safeguarding and confidentiality considerations. Reporting, monitoring and successful impact measurement.

Who should attend?

Groups working in the outdoors and nature for health and wellbeing who would like to include wellbeing walks as part of their offer as well as those who already deliver walks and would like to enhance their offer to bring a focus on wellbeing to their walks programme.

Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire. 

What's included?

After the course, participants will have resources emailed to them which will help to plan and manage effective wellbeing walks.

About the trainer

Fitness and Wellness Coach and Trainer Egg Cameron was the inspirational founder of Move the Masses and Move Mates in York which introduced a walking programme providing motivation, company and moral support so people are more active and less isolated. Following the success in York the programme is now running in Durham, Leeds, Pocklington and Selby.
