Social Media Training: How to find the volunteers you need

How do you use social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook, to expand your volunteer base?

Explore how your charity or community group can use social media more effectively to influence and engage with your audience.

Remembering that every one of your followers on social media is a potential volunteer, there’s an opportunity not to be missed.

This training will:
• Identify what social media platforms to use to promote your organisation.
• Learn how to create enticing posts.
• Explore ways to tell your organisation’s story to inspire others to come on board.

Who should attend?

You might work for a volunteer involving organisation or be a volunteer co-ordinator who wants to use their existing social media skills to connect with potential volunteers.

Please note this training event is currently only available to organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire, this excludes the city of York.

What will you learn?

Find out how to make the most of social media to tell your organisation’s story to attract potential volunteers.
The session will look at digital tools such as Bitly and Canva to develop eye-catching posts, and explore the benefits of paid-for advertising to reach your audience.
Find out more about engaging with followers by defining your impact and telling the story of how volunteers made a difference to your organisation through social media.

About the trainer

Claire Hetherington is the Marketing and Communications Officer at Community First Yorkshire. She has many years’ experience of running successful social media campaigns and has consistently doubled the organisation’s online followers year on year.

Refunds

Attendees can receive refunds for cancellations up to 7 days before the event date.

Cost
This event is free to organisations in North Yorkshire with an income of up to £5k thanks to funding from North Yorkshire County Council.

Places for other organisations are £24 each (£20 +VAT).
