Social media skills for volunteers – taking you beyond the basics

Event aims

Many charities rely on social media to fundraise, garner support or recruit more volunteers. With limited funding and resources, it often falls to volunteers to put on the social media hat. If you’ve been asked to help out on social media platforms, this is the course for you.

How do you use Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn to promote the organisation you volunteer for?

This training will help you:

  • Explore ways to tell your organisation’s story to inspire others to come on board
  • Identify how to use the different social media platforms to use to promote your organisation
  • Learn how to create enticing posts

Who should attend?

This training is for volunteers who have some social media understanding and experience but would like to develop their skills.

It may be that you are familiar with Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn through your personal accounts, but how do you engage with a new target audience to help the organisation you volunteer for? Develop your existing social media skills to help your organisation shine online.

What will you learn?

Find out how to make the most of LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to tell the story of the organisation that you volunteer for.

At this session we will talk about digital tools such as Bitly and Canva to develop eye-catching posts, and explore the benefits of paid for advertising to reach your audience.

Find out more about engaging with followers by defining your impact and telling the story of how volunteers made a difference to your organisation through social media.

Trainer

Claire Hetherington is the Marketing & Communications Officer at Community First Yorkshire. She has many years of experience running successful social media campaigns and has consistently increased the organisation’s online followers year on year.

Refunds

Attendees can receive refunds for cancellations up to 7 days before the event date

Cost

This event is free to organisations in North Yorkshire with an income of up to £5k thanks to funding from North Yorkshire County Council.

Places for other organisations are £24 each (£20 +VAT).
