How to Fund Your Community Building Project

Event aims

Are you seeking funding for a major capital building project for your village hall or community building? This may be a refurbishment project or a new build. This session will guide you through the different stages of your project including developing a comprehensive funding strategy, helping you avoid the pot holes and reach your goal.

This live, interactive training will be delivered over Zoom.

This training session will be most useful for larger capital funding projects. If you are looking for funding for smaller projects, under £10,000, please see our Small Grant Funding training on June 30th at 10.00am.

Who should attend?

This session is ideal for trustees/committee members of community buildings including village halls, community centres and church halls.

Please note this training is currently only available to organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire, this excludes the city of York.

What will you learn?

During this training session you will develop your understanding of:

  • How to plan out a large capital project including community consultations, costing your project, VAT implications and community fundraising.
  • Understand what grants and other sources of funding are available for community buildings based within North Yorkshire.
  • How to make a strong funding application.
  • How to monitor and evaluate your project.

About the trainer

Nicky Smith has 16 years’ experience as a funding advisor, securing funding for many voluntary organisations including village halls, play areas, health and social care groups and youth clubs across North Yorkshire.

Refunds

Attendees can receive refunds for cancellations up to 7 days before the event date.

Cost

This event is free to organisations in North Yorkshire with an income of up to £5k thanks to funding from North Yorkshire County Council.

Places for other organisations are £24 each (£20 +VAT).
