You, Me and AI: the uses and abuses of Artificial Intelligence

AI presents both opportunities and threats for our sector. But wouldn’t you like to spend less time writing reports and putting together funding bids – and more time being people-focused, where it matters most?

This live, interactive training covers the basics of producing AI resources that are primarily text-based or involve image creation. It focuses on readily available (and free!) online tools and resources, demonstrating their application while highlighting how to ensure that AI works for you, not the other way round!

The training also explores the inherent risks of using AI, from misusing the tools to deliberate scams that may impact your organisation. Recommendations for appropriate policies and practices will be provided, with an opportunity for questions and answers at the end of the session.

Don’t miss this opportunity learn how you can start making the most of this cutting-edge technology.

What will you learn?

By the end of the session, you will understand:

  • Basic free text-based AI tools (with some consideration given to other AI applications)
  • How to use AI to enhance your writing for different audiences and purposes, whether funding bids, case studies or reports
  • The risks inherent in trusting AI to complete written tasks without careful checking
  • How policy should include consideration of AI
  • How to keep yourself safe in an AI-world; looking out for scams and other risks that may impact your organisation.

Who should attend?

  • Volunteers, staff and trustees of organisations who are responsible for producing written material and may benefit from the use of AI in their work
  • Any volunteer, staff member or trustee responsible for social media posts on behalf of the organisation
All those interested in the opportunities provided by, and the threats presented by, AI for the VCSE sector.

Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.
