You, Me and AI: the uses and abuses of Artificial Intelligence

NEW FOR 2024!

AI presents both opportunities and threats for our sector.

Wouldn’t you like to spend less time writing reports and putting together funding bids – and spend more of your time being people-focused where it matters?

This live, interactive training covers the basics of primarily text-based and image creation AI resources. It covers freely available (and free!) online tools and resources, demonstrating their application and highlighting the care that needs to be taken to ensure AI works for you, not the other way round!

In addition, the training covers the risks inherent in working with AI, from misuse of the tools through to deliberate scams that may impact upon your organisation. Recommendations for policy and practice will be provided, with an opportunity for questions and answers at the end of the session.

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with this new training on cutting-edge technology.

What will you learn?

By the end of the session, you will understand:

  • Basic free text-based AI tools (with some consideration given to other AI applications)
  • How to use AI to enhance your writing for different audiences and purposes, whether funding bids, case studies or reports
  • The risks inherent in trusting AI to complete written tasks without careful checking
  • How policy should include consideration of AI
  • How to keep yourself safe in an AI-world; looking out for scams and other risks that may impact upon your organisation.

Who should attend?

  • Volunteers, staff and trustees of organisations who are responsible for producing written material and may benefit from the use of AI in their work
  • Any volunteer, staff member or trustee responsible for social media posts on behalf of the organisation
  • All those interested in the opportunities provided by, and the threats presented by, AI for this sector.

Please note this training is aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations and groups based in North Yorkshire or delivering services within North Yorkshire.
